This 1943 1st Ed tells the story of Desert Hurricane Ace Ernest ‘Imshi’ Mason. Imshi flew with Pat Pattle & Paddy Dunn in 80 Sqn before gaining his own Squadron (274) where he was shot down flying a Kittyhawk. This book features the letters he sent to his mother whilst training to fly and then in combat in the Western Desert. The book has been enhanced with an original pencil drawing portrait of Imshi by Steve Teasdale and a genuine Paddy Dunn signature has been mounted on the same page. Paddy Dunn was his C/O on 80 Sqn and wrote an obituary to his mother which is featured in the book ( see photo ). This 80 year old wartime book is in remarkable condition, with some spotting to the page ends only visible when the book is closed. The very rare dustjacket has a large piece missing from the back with some sellotape repair and has now been placed in a protective plastic sleeve. To make it even more collectable the book comes with a note from the publisher explaining that this was a pre publication review copy which was due out in June 1943! A beautiful book which makes fascinating reading.
