This 1942 wartime 1st Ed is in v. good condition for the age. It features the story of Wing Commander Ian ‘Widge’ Gleed of 87 Sqn. The book features a signed bookplate by 5 fighter pilots who flew with him in France and or The Battle of Britain on 87 Sqn. They are Dennis David, Garry Nowell, Frank ‘Dimmy’ Joyce, Alex Thom and Roland Beamont. The bookplate also features an original drawing of Ian Gleed’s mascot Figaro which adorned his Hurricane. This 80 years old book is browning to the page edges and has a largely whole original dustjacket ( see photos). The book has a previous owners ex Libris bookplate from Ontario. It is rare to see this 1st Ed in such nice condition and with such a relevant set of signatures included.
