On the night of 16th April 1941 Wing Commander Tom Pike, officer commanding 219 Sqn needed a radar operator to take on night patrol. He chose Flt Lt Terry Clark DFM, a reliable and talented radar operator with two kills to his credit. During this one night patrol their Beaufighter detected, engaged and shot down two enemy intruders. As a result of this action Tom Pike received the DFC and Terry Clark the DFM not long afterwards. Both men were to finish the war as Ace Nightfighter operators. The book mentions the combat on that night. This near mint condition book includes an original portrait drawing of Tom Pike bearing his genuine signature (later Marshal of the Royal Air Force) and it also includes a glossy photograph bookplate signed by Terry Clark DFM.

A lovely copy of this first edition which is becoming rarer to find.
