This is a 1971 first edition copy of One of the Few, Johnny Kent’s personal story of the Battle of Britain and beyond. Johnny Kent famously led one of the Polish squadrons to great success during the Battle. Johnny Kent had an incredible successful RAF career, including acting as personal staff officer to Sholto Douglas near wars end. This is obviously where he knew Flt Lt Robert Wright, personal assistant to Lord Dowding during the B.O.B and who later became assistant to Keith Park and also Sholto Douglas. This book came from Robert Wright’s personal collection, along with a 1956 dated letter from Kent to Wright which has been written on extremely rare RAF Tangmere headed notepaper. Johnny Kent was by that time a Group Captain. The book has been further enhanced with an original pencil portrait drawing by Steve Teasdale. The book is in very good condition with a slightly sunned dustjacket spine and light spotting & browning on some pages but nothing extreme at all. A nice copy overall.
