This 1976 Hardback tells the story of an Australian Bomber Command Lancaster pilot who was shot down and imprisoned in a POW camp. His story features an explanation of the day to day life in captivity and his attempt to escape by flying a Nightfighter from a nearby Luftwaffe airfield. The forward of the book is written by Arthur ‘Bomber’ Harris and features a Remarqued original pencil drawing of Harris by Steve Teasdale. A genuine Arthur Harris signature has been professionally mounted underneath the drawing. The book comes from the library of Robert Wright, Lord Dowding’s personal Aide in the Battle of Britain and himself a mosquito Nightfighter. The book features a multi-page letter to Bob Wright from a friend who was an ex ‘kriegie’ of Stalag Luft 3 ( Great Escape fame ) called Tony. He confirms that the story is genuine after Bob Wright’s concerns over the authenticity of the account. A unique copy of a great story. The book is in excellent condition with some slight spotting on the page ends and some slight browning.
