This 1966 hardback is in very good condition overall. The book itself suffers from some slight spotting to the page ends, only visible when the book is closed. The binding is tight and the boards clean. The dustjacket is whole with some browning, especially on the spine. The book belonged to Hugh Dowding’s Battle of Britain aide Robert Wright, who was also an accomplished author on both WW1&2. He was also a Beaufighter Nightfighter himself. William Arthur Bishop wrote this biography as a result of the promise he made to his father before he died in 1956. The author's own career in the RCAF began when he was presented with his wings by his father at Uplands, Ottawa, 1942. He subsequently served overseas as a Spitfire pilot with the First Canadian Squadron 401. The book has been dedicated to Bob Wright by Bishop and Remarqued with a large pencil drawing portrait of Billy Bishop by Steve Teasdale.
