This is an original drawing by Steve Teasdale in charcoal and white pastel. It has been drawn in the style of war artist Cuthbert Orde on A3 size Ingres pastel paper. The drawing also comes with Paul Royle's clipped signature and a genuine piece of Wehrmacht barbed wire as used at POW camps in Poland. Paul Royle was a pilot with 53 Squadron RAF when he was shot down. After spending some time in Stalag Luft 1 he was moved to Stalag Luft 3 where he took part in the Great Escape as escaper number 57 out of 76. He was recaptured with another POW who was later shot as one of the 50 murdered by the gestapo. This is the first Great Escaper portrait to be completed by Steve. Please be aware that the drawing has not been framed or mounted and will be sent in a strong tube. The price includes postage.
